Your Charge Point Operator Stops. What Do You Do?
The market for EV charging infrastructure has grown significantly in recent years, but not every player has survived. Some operators have gone out of business or are scaling back their services. Customers are then left with systems that still work technically, but without management, billing or support.
Are you in that situation? Or would you rather not wait until then? Q8 electric will look for the best option with you and ensure that your charging infrastructure remains in good hands.
What happens if your CPO stops?
A charge point doesn’t work on its own. Behind every installation is a CPO (Charge Point Operator): the party responsible for access by means of charging cards, billing for charging sessions, reimbursement of electricity costs and technical support.
When a CPO goes out of business or scales back its operations, that comprehensive service is no longer available. Your chargers are still there, but they no longer function as fully managed charge points.
Can Q8 electric take over your existing chargers?
That depends on the type of charger. The key question is whether your installation communicates by means of OCPP (Open Charge Point Protocol), the international open standard for EV charging infrastructure.
OCPP-compliant chargers can be linked to a new management platform without you having to replace the hardware. Q8 electric works exclusively with this protocol and can usually take over OCPP chargers.
However, some manufacturers have used their own closed system. In that case, the options are more limited, but even then we’ll work with you to see what’s possible.
Not sure whether your chargers are suitable? Get in touch and we’ll analyse your situation free of charge.
What will Q8 electric do for you?
Analysis of your existing installation. We’ll assess the installation’s charger type, protocol and condition, whether at your home or at your business premises.
Connection to the Q8 electric platform. For OCPP-compliant chargers, we’ll connect your installation to our management platform. You’ll then regain access to fuel card activation, usage information, billing and automatic refunds through Q8 Liberty Web.
One charging card, valid everywhere. With the Q8 electric charging card, you can use over 900,000 public charging points across Europe as well as your own installation. One card, one bill, fully managed.
New installation if necessary. What if your chargers aren’t compatible? In that case we’ll take a look together at replacing them with our tried-and-tested models from Peblar and Alfen, including professional installation and a warranty.
