Home charging reimbursement

Handled smoothly – based on the CREG rate

Right now, home charging sessions are reimbursed using the 2025 CREG rate. These sessions are processed each month. Around the fifth working day, we generate the reimbursement document, and the payment is made no later than five working days after that. Want to see how it’s calculated or check the CREG rate table?

How it works in Belgium: VREG & CREG

Electricity network tariffs are regulated by the VREG in Flanders. The charging cost at a home charger may differ from what is reimbursed, as reimbursement is based on the CREG rate – a market average electricity price. This average rate changes monthly.

From January 2025 on, CREG rates will be published quarterly. That means your charging sessions are reimbursed using the average rate of the three previous months, as follows:

Q1 2025: average of August, September, October 2024

Q2 2025: average of November, December 2024, January 2025

Q3 2025: average of February, March, April 2025

Q4 2025: average of May, June, July 2025

You can check the latest CREG rates on the website of the CREG (Commission for Electricity and Gas Regulation)

Rates in Flanders, Wallonia and Brussels

The way the average CREG electricity rate is calculated differs slightly by region:

Flanders: Since January 2023, the reimbursement rate is based on the capacity tariff. This rate is published on page 5 of the CREG report (look for the ‘highest average commercial electricity price (all-in)’ for classic and digital meters with EV usage).

Wallonia and Brussels: Q8 uses the rate from page 3 of the CREG report (‘average commercial electricity price (all-in)’).

How the reimbursement is calculated

The reimbursement amount is calculated by multiplying the total number of kWh from all home charging sessions (for company vehicles only) by the applicable CREG rate.

If the most recent rate is not yet available, the last published rate is used.

Important:

Only the actual electricity costs can be reimbursed. These are based on the number of kWh and the CREG rate. The amount cannot exceed the real cost. [1]

Note:

Until December 2024, CREG rates were published monthly.  As from January 2025, they are published quarterly, in line with Circular 2024/C/77.
