Important News & What You Need to Do: Peppol Invoicing Starts in 2026

From 1 January 2026, Peppol electronic invoicing will become mandatory for all companies that send invoices to or receive invoices from other companies in Belgium. This includes Q8 liberty customers, who:

  • are subject to VAT,

  • have their registered office in Belgium,

  • and have a Belgian company number.

You can find more information here:

What is Peppol?

Peppol (Pan-European Public Procurement On-Line) is an international system for exchanging invoices digitally, securely and quickly. The government is making it mandatory to simplify administration and further digitise the economy.

What does this mean for you?
From 1 January 2026, you will receive all your invoices via the Peppol network of companies, government agencies and institutions that use it – and you will also send your own invoices via Peppol.

What do you need to do?

  1. Check your systems. Does your invoicing software already work with Peppol? Many software programs will receive an update for this, but be sure to check with your supplier.

  2. Choose a Peppol-compliant solution. Not yet using software that supports Peppol? Get started in time. After purchasing or applying for a (free) licence, you can register and inform your suppliers.

  3. Plan the transition. Start in good time so that you can send and receive invoices without any problem from the deadline.

  4. We take care of the rest.
