Digital foodmarket Q8

Q8 opens Belgium’s very first “digital food market” in Liège

Thursday, 7 May 2026

Antwerp, 7 May 2026 – Q8 is opening its very first “digital food market” at the Liège-Grétry service station. Customers can order a wide range of freshly prepared dishes via an on-site ordering kiosk or online, including tacos, crunchy chicken and loaded potato wedges. Panos sandwiches and products from the Delhaize Shop & Go are also on the menu. With this concept, Q8 aims to further expand its food offering in its service station shops.

With this digital food market, Q8 is taking another step in its evolution towards becoming a Sustainable Mobility Player with a broad shop and foodservice offering. The stations are also being adapted accordingly, with additional consumption and dining options. “In this way, we are focusing even more on comfort and experience around food and shopping,” says Sarah Pillen, Shop & Dealer Performance Manager at Q8.

Smart kitchen with a wide range of premium dishes

The Q8 station in Liège-Grétry has been equipped with a new smart kitchen of just 4.5 m². “Here, we prepare premium versions of popular dishes, such as tacos, crunchy chicken and loaded crinkles—crispy potato wedges with various toppings,” explains Sarah Pillen. “We can keep this kitchen compact thanks to simple, efficient recipes. The dishes are prepared on site using fresh ingredients delivered daily.”

The kitchen is also smartly connected to a digital platform through which customers can order dishes, both via a digital ordering kiosk in the station and online via platforms such as Just Eat Takeaway.com, Uber Eats or Deliveroo. Many products from the Delhaize Shop & Go, as well as a wide selection from the Panos range, including sandwiches and hot snacks, can also be ordered via this platform. “Everything is delivered by bicycle courier to homes, offices or on the go.”

Q8 expects that this expanded offering will attract customers to the station at multiple times throughout the day. “At the moment, mornings and lunchtime are particularly busy, thanks to our strong collaboration with Delhaize and Panos. We also want to strengthen the evening offering. With this additional range of fresh meals and through digital platforms, we believe this is achievable.”

Food sales quadrupled

The concept has already been a major success for Q8 in Denmark. “There are now 88 stations equipped with Noahs’ platform. At locations with a smart kitchen, they have seen foodservice revenues quadruple in the first six months,” says Sarah Pillen. “Order sizes increased by 228% and they attracted 80% new online customers. A huge success that exceeded all expectations. We are confident this will also be a game changer in Belgium.”

Roll-out to other stations

Future plans are ambitious. “We are starting with five pilot locations, including Liège-Grétry, one in Herstal and soon also Turnhout,” says Sarah Pillen. “After that, we will evaluate and, in principle, scale up. The technology and kitchen setup make it relatively easy to roll this out across multiple locations.”

Further international expansion

For foodtech platform Noahs, this partnership with Q8 in Belgium and Luxembourg marks an important next step in its international expansion. “Q8 has been a phenomenal partner for us in Denmark, where we've built something that's genuinely changed how food operates at service stations and unlocked completely new customer segments online. Bringing that to Q8 Belgium and Luxembourg was a natural next step — they have the right network, the right ambition and customers who deserve a real food offering on the go,” says Noahs CEO Daniel Baven.
