Q8 launches 'digital foodmarket' in 75 stations

Dinsdag, 17 juni 2025

Anwerp - June 17, 2025 - Q8 is rolling out a digital 'foodmarket' including tacos, pizza and burgers at 75 of its fueling and fast-charging stations starting this fall. Customers can order these ready-to-eat dishes both online for delivery by bicycle courier and to delivery kiosks at the station. Liege's Q8 station will be the first of five pilot stations. With this unique concept in cooperation with Danish foodtech start-up Noahs, Q8 aims to become a true food and retail hub for people on-the-go. "Consumers today expect more than a sandwich or coffee on the go. They want a more comprehensive, quality and digital food offering for both lunch and dinner. Customers want healthy choices and quality - delivered on location or at home," said Sarah Pillen, Shop & Retail Performance Manager at Q8.

'Spotify for food'

Q8 wants to become a true retail hub for the Belgian on-the-go with a wider range of meals and groceries. "Belgian consumers expect more and more shopping and eating options on the go as well as digital ordering options," says Sarah Pillen. "That is clear from research we have done among consumers. We are responding to this by introducing a new, innovative food concept at five locations in collaboration with Danish foodtech start-up Noahs."

"What Spofity has done for music, we are now doing for food," explained Daniel Baven, CEO of Noahs. "Fueling and fast-charging stations, with their many and diverse customers looking for as much comfort on-the-go as possible, are ideal locations for our concept, which is already hugely popular in Denmark."

Smart kitchens with a wide range of dishes

The foodmarket concept works with smart compact kitchens. Healthy, premium versions of popular dishes are prepared from one space - from as little as 1m² -: tacos, burgers, poke bowls, salads.... Everything is delivered fresh daily from a central food hub and prepared to order. In this way, we offer an expanded lunch and dinner selection for our customers in our stations and online.

Q8 expects this offer to draw customers to the stations at several times a day. "At the moment it is especially busy in the morning and afternoon, but we also want to aim more at the evening. With this expanded offer of fresh meals through a digital platform, we believe this is possible," said Sarah Pillen.

"It's a concept we are already successfully rolling out in our Danish Q8 stations. It is super popular there and we believe this will be a gamechanger in Belgium as well."

Order online and have it delivered

Those who don't have time to visit can also order everything online. Not only your meal, but also sandwiches from Panos or your groceries from the Delhaize Shop&Go. "As long as the station is in the delivery zone, everything is delivered by bicycle courier - at home, at the office or on the road," says Sarah Pillen

Expansion to 75 stations

Q8 will start with the station in Liege this fall but plans to expand quickly to 40 delivery locations and 75 foodmarket locations. Most of the new Q8 electric fast-charging locations will also get this concept. "The world is changing rapidly. We see a future where Q8 becomes a digital marketplace for great food and daily groceries. Our network gives us the opportunity to create real convenience hubs on the go," concludes Sarah Pillen.
