Where can you charge?
You can install a home charging station to conveniently charge your EV at home or at the office. Prefer charging on the go? With over 880,000 public charging points across Europe, you’ll always find a charging solution nearby, no matter whether you’re looking for standard options or Q8 fast chargers. The choice is yours:
At home
At the office
On the road
How long does charging take?
If you’re using a fast charger, you can recharge your EV from 20% to 80% in as little as 25 minutes, ideal for battery health and time-saving. AC charging is much slower. But the total charging time depends on several factors, including:
The charging capacity of your EV
Your battery size and temperature (preconditioning speeds things up)
Weather conditions and whether your car is warmed up
The charge curve (charging from 20–80% is faster than from 0–100%)
The output and speed of the charger (shown in the Q8 electric app)
Available power at home (especially with dynamic load balancing)
The number of vehicles currently connected to the station
Which plug types are there?
Different charging connectors are used depending on where and how you’re charging. Whether you’re at home or using a public charging point, the right plug type makes all the difference. Here’s a quick guide to the most common EV plugs used across Europe: where to find them, how to use them, and what they’re compatible with.
